Desire Index is developed by Seaward Labs, LLC, a product studio that builds research-grounded software. The team reads the primary literature closely, organizes it carefully, and turns it into tools people can actually use. We are product builders and research synthesists. Desire Index is a 63-question assessment of desire in long-term relationships, grounded in peer-reviewed research. It measures seven domains the literature identifies as causally relevant to sexual desire, then uses the pattern across those domains to give you a specific picture of which conditions for desire are intact in your relationship and which have eroded.
It is an educational tool. It is not therapy, and it is not a formally validated clinical instrument. We say this plainly here and throughout the site, because a tool about honesty in relationships should start by being honest about itself.
The research on desire in long-term relationships is precise, careful, and largely unread. It sits in academic journals and clinical textbooks that most couples will never open, while the popular advice available to those same couples stays vague. Seaward Labs built Desire Index to bridge that gap: a tool that takes the empirical literature seriously and makes it usable by the people it describes.
